Zak Hanna goes in the World Mountain Running Championship today in Innsbruck. 5th last year and going well in training, he might have a chance of a podium - he definitely has shown he can mix with and beat the Kenyans when in form.

AFAIR, this event is usually held in late summer / autumn - the early season timing probably means nobody knows each other's form. Given Ireland's rich running history (and traditions of mountain running), you'd think we'd have a bigger hstory at this event but only John Lenihan has ever won it.

Busy weekend around the place.

Adeleke going in her NCAA semi tonight in at 02:00. Final is Saturday night/Sunday morning around the same time. Should be a formality for her. Britton Wilson is in heat 2. I don't need to say any more here. She is super.

More intriguing for tonight is Sophie O'Sullivan in the 1500 about an hour beforehand. She's a couple of 100ths outside of the athletics ireland B standard and is in the fast heat. 7 women with 4:08 or better and 5 Qs available (2 qs) Katelyn Tuohy should take on the running so hopefully it'll be fast and Sophie will make it.

Brian Fay is Friday night 02:00. He's ranked #1, not a locked on favourite but one of maybe 5 guys who can win. Robinson and Hicks ran the 10k last night. Fay will be fresh. He has a quota spot and a B standard already. If he can win it it would be pretty historic.

As well as NCAA Paris DL is Friday.

Jacob going for 2 mile WR.

Girma going for steeple WR.

Faith Kipyaygon stepping up to 5000m

Sydney McLoughlan Lavrone going up against Paulinho in the 400m flat. If she flew to Paris and is willing to race Paulinho she must be ready to run fast.

Other than that Andrew Coscoran had a good win in Hengelo out dipping Elliot Giles for 3:33 and an AutoQ for Budapest.

At the same meet Sifan Hassan won the 10000m on Friday in 29: high and the 1500m on Saturday. 6 weeks after winning london.

Sharlene Mawdesley AutoQ'd too in 51 mid. As did Sarah Lavan in 12.86. All 3 looking like seasoned circuit runners.

They're getting regular gold tour lanes and it's showing

Rashidat won her heat easily in 49:86

Britton Wilson won heat 2 in 49:36.

Nice win for Sophie O'Sullivan in 4:09:58. Messy race with loads of argy bargey. Hopefully she'll take some confidence from that for the final. Touhy didn't run well at all.

Videos should be up in a few hours.
