What kills me about Greg Allen is he appears to have no interest in athletics - lazily shouts the same cliches again and again, clueless about the achievements or potential of the athletes in the race and never notices moves or drops or breaks until they are way past - he has no feel for the sport or the people who participate in / watch it. He is stealing a living from the taxpayer. I'm not sure what Matthews' job description is - because he adds almost nothing. The two of them covering the Olympic marathon is about the worst sporting broadcast experience you could sit through.

In terms of studio analysis, Sonia is head and shoulders above them all - and ALWAYS has her homework done. You could listen to her all day and RTE were really lucky she came along when Jerry Kiernan moved on. Derval is OK on the sprints but has really poor delivery and hasn't quite killed off the uptalk either. Rob is in danger of becoming the pantomime dame - the Micah Richards of RTE athletics coverage.
