The Official Athletics Thread

it's mad. in a prelim.

I wonder will it be ratified

Edit: Just watched it. Where did you get your slow from? I'd like to see his touch down times. Every hurdle looked smooth and Rythmic. No bunching up on the later hurdles

Lovely Obituary

It is easy to see from the coverage of his death how highly regarded he was. I didn't know him at all, but my husband would have through athletics.

Years ago, my husband would routinely arrive home from training absolutely flaed from trying to set pace for Ciarán on the track! He pushed him hard as an adult, even though he was probably only 15 or so at the time.

There is something special about seeing teenage phenoms transition up to the senior ranks

I've no doubt your husband is a decent runner and a hardy bit of stuff but when you see greatness up close even at that age you can only scratch your head and applaud.

We can all run, but racers are a rare breed

I can’t see anything strange in that vid C. As Guapo says, the rhythm looks very consistent. He looked like a lad running over low hurdles or something
Extra style points for wearing splitties too.

Way to many speed suits and half tights these days. The running equivalent of a pair of White Preds

If your husband was able to set pace for a teenage Ciaran - your husband was a decent runner.

There are podcasts from over the years that give good examples of the ups and downs the man went through. What makes it so difficult for those who would have followed his athletics journey is that through those podcasts, he spoke so openly and eloquently about his mental health, challenges growing up etc and the transition to life beyond running, that he sounded like he had a good handle on the balance to manage those ups and downs. Cathal D is a fantastic writer and it’s a good piece again today - some very small consolation for his friends and family to see that.

Official countdown to Femke Bolová's outdoor 800m debut

16th June. Those Czechoslovakians are great craic.

Bigger than the world cup?

He was. "In this day" as I like to remind him ;-)

The piece that Leevale put up that COL wrote himself for them is beautiful. He was very eloquent, as you say.
