So, how do we rate that? I genuinely don't know. I think she'll succeed but the jury is out at this stage. It was her first ever AND it was indoors but on the other hand you now have half a dozen running 1.57.xx. I'm a Femke fan so hopefully she shows up in Summer and beyond

Need to see her in traffic. This was a paced time trial.

27 first 200 was maybe a touch fast but the scoring tables puts it at 1:57.8 outdoors.

So I think it's hugely encouraging

I’d agree with that - the race was paced and the oppo was pretty much non-existent. The 800 is still all about who fades the least and that was defo Bol this evening.
There might have been another second or a little bit more in her if she was in a tight race - and that would put her close to 1:56-high equivalent territory.
Be interesting to see if she hangs back, McPhillips-style, and trusts her second 400 in the heavy traffic races or if she goes out at the front. Plenty of time to figure that out. She’s been at altitude in South Africa for months so she’s presumably training away through this meet.
I’d be pretty happy this evening if I was her (LOL, or her agent).
