Class - good team spirit there, dowtcha Fedrik.
In fairness, though they were 10th in the medals table, they were actually third in terms of number of medals won. So many silvers...

As ever, New Zealand are the standard for us - same population, same "western" prosperity but they consistently beat the s***e out of us at Olympics and World Championships. Even with our Olympics "bonanza" last year, they still scored triple our number of medals.

NZ have 13 regional coaches earning $60k a year and the likes of Tom Walsh's coach who isn't part of that system gets a $20k Bursary as a coach of a world level athlete.

I know I'm preaching to the choir here

This was from back in March/April but worth a listen The NZ stuff starts around 15mins

This table is missing the most important column - amount spent.

Kiprun is Decathlon, right? I have two pairs of Kiprun running knicks, bought in the Decathlon shop in Ballymun. They were super-cheap and are excellent.

Yup Decathlon, made a big push last year and signed Chelimo and Gressier.

Big fan of Kiprun. Peba foam and all

We'll start seeing the Chinese brands soon enough I'd say

Chicago Marathon is next Sunday and the elite field listing suggests a decent race

Korir won in Boston in April and will be expected to deliver here too.
Cybrian Kotut just outran Conner Mantz in a sprint for the podium in the same race and Mantz might be a dark horse here. The rest of the PBs listed are from flat courses but Mantz got his in Boston so it's a serious score - he was just 20 seconds behind Korir that day and you get the feeling he might have podiumed if he'd gone a bit earlier. He won the US 20km road race championship in a new course record of 56:16 in early September
Abdi is a serial medaller - but his PB was four years ago. He has a bronze from Chicago before so knows how to race this event. He could do very well in a tactical race
Kiplimo has the world record for the half and the flat course should be kind to him. He's well able for the distance - only Sawe beat him in London
Rupp is the elite marathoner who just won't retire but it's hard to see him figuring here.
Linkletter's been having a decent season - his 2:08 was also scored in Boston so he might be a 2:06 man and he outsprinted Clayton Young down the stretch in April.
