The Official Athletics Thread

Bislett Games is tonight on VMTV2 at 19:00

There is still something magic about those original Golden four meetings. It's been sold out for ages.

From an Irish perspective it's English and Adeleke. These are perhaps the best two races of the night too along i reckon in a programme where a 5000m WR is the target (Kajelcha and Hegos) and the big three are squaring off the 300m hurdles.

We're back to a dream mile after about 3 years of 1500s.

In the 400m how do you pick a winner?

Anning and Jaeger had the good indoor seasons, Bukowieka and Adeleke have been solid by their own standards. Whittaker has gone fastest this year.

Bukowiecka for the win but Adleke has to beat her eventually.

For English it's how low can he go behind Wanyonyi.

Agree on the 400m - Bukoweicka for the win but as you say, Adeleke is never going to get after Paulinho and Naser if she can't crack the Polish beor.

The 800 should be bang bang from the start - all about hanging on.

There is a real magic to the big 4 meetings - childhood memories no doubt, watching Coe, Ovett and Cram in packed tight stadiums challenged by Frank O'Mara or Ray Flynn and the emergence of Aouita, Morceli and El Gerrouj.

Live on Virgin Media 2 from 19:00 to 21:00

14 in the 800 - Wow, this is some field. Let’s go Mark English 👍

Edit - 1:44.33 - never got properly on the bus. Wanyoni fairly hammered that back straight - none of the lads could get up to him in the end
