The Official Athletics Thread

Also fuck me that one Jess Silva in the booth was brutal.

Pity Kris Temple being stuck next to her
Yep, the Eni Aluko of athletics commentary - she is clueless. They’re forced to put a female in to meet the DEI quota but don’t bother to hire one with any ability. She’s female, that’s considered enough. She managed to lessen the enjoyment of every single race.

Doha DL this evening from 17:00 on VMTV2

It's star studded without being totally loaded.

Shelly Anne is in the 100m to show em who's boss. Great to see her back. The Clayton sisters, Kambunji and Amy Hunt in there.

Women's Steeple is like a world champs field, All set up for "Home town star" Yavi, Norah Jeruto, Cheroteich and chemutai in there too.

Women's 400m is good too. Amber Anning vs Eid Naser. with Klaver, Laval Neilson and that Austrian wagin Gogl-Walli

In other news. Jakob is injured, achillies again. Bad Juju. Remeber how good Henrik was until that Toe injury finished him. Jakob had this last year too only that was prior to indoors.

Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk got popped for Testosterone. Big fish to go down she's european TJ champ and a multi time world.medalist.

Also Grand Slam announced they are dropping to 2 days and ditching the 5k altogether. Good moves both

Edit: Anning has scratched

Yep - Fraser-Pryce ran in the relays last week - which I wasn't expecting. It's brilliant to see her back. Second leg, I think.

Ingebrigtsen may have to take a long break with that achilles - no better year than the post-olympic one. He can't simply keep racing every point-to-point that he sees.

LOL, at "home town" star Yavi - although she'll probably win it.

Some night for the MVP track club - their two brightest new stars nailed a one-two in the 100m, Tia just shading it from the twin sis.

There's gonna be some craic if these two make it all the way - Tia's already run an Olympic final and Tina's got a bunch of World AG medals too. Full on Phil Neville situation - operating at the top level of the sport but not yet the best at your own dinner table.

SoS doing her stuff. That gait, madre mia....... But, it seems to work!
fuckit that was great. Her "kick" is so deceptive, she obviously has some kind of one but you'd never know it looking at her, I guess she's using up her last outdoor eligibility this year.

I have no idea how she'll do nationally, but Big 10 is a nice one certainly

Brian Fay had a decent run over 3000m in Tokyo too.

His is the first race up.

The fella Jude Thomas was second in Aussie champs over 1500m and seems to be coming good for them.

Sha'Carri and Christan Coleman both take a bit of a beating in their season openers. Not a huge surprise really they'll both come good but Sha'Carri particularly looked like she was going over stones on the beach off the start.
