World indoors tomorrow in Nanjing
The foxy headed stepchild of Championships.
24 hour travel, difficult Visa regime grand slam track and a late worlds this year means that just like Euros the stars have stayed home.
In its favour it's a nice compact programme, 3 days, the "evening" sessions are on between 11 and 14:00 or so Irish time over the weekend with straight finals for the 3000m.
M1500m
i would be very surprised if Jakob doesn't double, he's never won one of these. Sam Tefera beat him in 22, he's back but the rest of the "world" levels guys are missing and Tefera has hardly run this year. Nader, Gourley, are the next up but Coscoran has a super chance to nick one. He's been away from altitude for a long time now so hopefully he manages the travel. He can beat those guys, all bar Jakob and probably Tefera, on his day. Ollie Hiare has been running well but also cry wanking a lot so curious to see how he does..I suspect he'll flop but has the talent.
M800m
The yanks think it's written in the stars for Josh Hoey, I'm not so sure for his first champs. Sneaky suspicion Eliot Crestan or Chapple will nick it.
M3000m Jakob. Aragawi was supposed to.be running a half and switched to this. He is most likely to upset but I suspect he'll fall short. Ky Robinson for a sneaky one maybe. the young Ethiopian fella Mehary is also class.
Womens side is marginally better.
W15000 is Tsegay, Welteji. We'll see how sick Georgia Bell was. Yer wan Gulillimot is 5s slower but looked great at Euros.
W800m, Deguma probably
W3000m. Healy has a shot hopefully she runs free and takes a shot or two. But she lost to Wittni Morgan by 3s at Boston, Frewyani Hailu will win it. Birke Haylom is talented but braindead tactically. Jess Hull has not racesld months so maybe not fit. Shelby is worth a mention. She'll be avoiding the turtle soup.
W400m, Amber Anning revenge tour. Alexis Holmes and Henriette Jager.
Enjoy the racing lads.
Handy timetable at the bottom of this
BBC2 are showing it and its on inside track on the WA website
