4 lads on WR pace at 15km - there'll surely be a decent run-in here.

Interestingly, the commentator reckons they are going just too fast to take on and swallow fluids. NOt a problem I've encountered.

Here comes Kiplimo!

Jakob finished?? Jesus, fair fux to him. I presumed when he stopped he was going home. And didn't get chicked either. Shows you the difference between a top 5k man and a top HM bloke.

Yep - Kiplimo and Sawe are the main men for this event - you could hardly pick two better operators over the distance ATM. Jakob is in short pants compared to them - I'd say he couldn't believe the feeling after 10k at 27:33 - "Jaysus, we're not even halfway!". However, he hinted strongly that this is where he will go in the coming years - maybe one more Olympic cycle on the track. He also said he'd be back in Copenhagen for the road chanmpionships next year - for one of the shorter distance races.

Good move to step off the road at 10k and then come back on and continue to "jog" incognito, rather than have the lads gradually pull away from him. That would have meant a camera bike trailing him all day showing how much he was "losing". Once the TV lads thought he was gone they didn't look for him again and he could tip along, still in the sharp end of the field. He did the last 11.1k in under 36 minutes - still sub-3:15 pace.
