Was looking at the transfer business done in the summer by clubs that finished in the top 5 last year.

The big thing that stood out to me is Bumnal look to be in a weaker position now then when they started the window, particularly upfront, Trossard and Martinelli both played roles in securing a PL title and don't appear to have been improved on?

Tzolis I know nothing about maybe he will go on to be a good player for the club however after winning a PL and getting to a CL final it's hard to imagine ye will ever be in a stronger position to attract top players than this summer? Seems like a missed opportunity.

Konsa & Guimaraes are good players and welcome depth but not in area's that needed strengthening imo, this team needed goals to become better than last year and I don't think they have gone and done that.

Ye will probably disagree with this which is fine but imo I think ye have the worst attack of the teams that finished in the top 5 last year.

We've all said it's been a shite window for the attack though.

Last year! now ye are down 2 attackers and have an unknown qty in Tzolis.

One or two injuries or loss of form which is inevitable and ye could in a spot of bother for goals.

Apologies, I read it as had the worst attack of the top 5 from last year.

Our attack was plagued with injury last year too but I get your point.

It's a huge gamble on fitness and form alright. MLS and Bruno will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

I hope the sideways and backwards passing at Villa was early season stuff. They never got out of 2nd gear in that game at all while Villa were at full tilt for the 90 minutes.

Arsenal have the lowest figure since leicester’s miraculous freak season.

Only points on the board matter at the end of the season and the defence is miserly because of the way the entire team is set up.

I reckon Arteta is planning on working harder at his successful Plan A than attempting to transition to an attacking style Plan B.

They scored 89 in 23/24 in coming second before he pulled up the handbrake. So it’s not that the attackers are bad per se, it’s more of a tactical thing.

The main thing I was surprised about was letting Trossard & Martenelli walk and not adding additional attacking quality particularly in a strong position from a financial and recruitment perspective, they finished the window worse off up front.

They lost out on Morgan Rodgers to Chelsea, fair enough not wanting to spend that kind of money, Vini Jr and Alverez were never going to happen but there is plenty attacking talent out there they could have got.

With a long season ahead in a number of competitions they are fairly thread bare upfront.

Of the 30 points available v the rest of the top 6 last year they picked up 11 points from 30.

3 wins, 2 draws and 5 losses.

Against the rest of the league they picked up 74/84.

And i’m not buying it that a league winning manager in his 6th season doesn’t have the clout to say to the board “here lads i’m grand for a midfielder and we already have 6/7 lads that can fill in at centre half so use the £130m Konsa/Guimaraes money to get a world class attacker.”

Barcola for £100m to liverpool seems a waste of money given the team needed players more urgently in other positions.

Barcola to Arsenal for £100m would have been a good purchase.

I think the sick weirdo fuck is happy out with his squad.

No expectations or obligation to play any sort of attractive football now cos he doesn’t have the players.

And he’ll revel in it. He definitely gets a horn over a boring 1-0 way more than an exciting 4-2.

He’s a winner. People are only now starting to realise he’s determined to the point of being demented. Arsenal fans have known it all along.

Very intelligent too. For 3 years we topped the top 6 table against each other and came 2nd. So your point is only correct for last season.
He changed it up, got ultra defensive and we won the league.

I definitely think we’ll be more attacking this season with the handbrake being off but can resort to that when needed.

We’ve only played 3 games so far, brilliant and attacking against City and Coventry and not great against Villa but got the result.

I’m very disappointed with the lack of forward signings but I think it will come out in the wash later as to who’s to blame.
I think it’s very obvious Arteta wanted Vini and Alvarez but neither came through.
I agree fully on Barcola though, I would have loved him and we could very well pay for not making another signing there.

So he might be a sick fuck but he’s our sick fuck and he’s gotten better each season as a manager.
