The Official Arsenal Thread - Part 2

Partey charged.

Bizzare that Arsenal continued to pay and play him when dogs on the street knew what was going on!

Once the allegations had been made public then the club put themselves in a bind by continuing to play him

It was common knowledge that he had been interviewed under caution and the investigation was ongoing.

It doesn't say a whole lot for Arteta as a person that he came out and publicly defended the guy.

Serious loss of credibility and integrity at that club. You could probably someway understand swimming against the tide for the two CBs, captain or #7. Not even going to name them in this hypothetical situation. But to do it for a player like Partey that there's ten a penny of, was seriously odd.

Bit better than that but irrespective of quality, when a player is subject to these allegations and probability is that charges will follow (which was the case here), a top club generally run a mile to protect their own reputation.

Man City froze Mendy out when allegations were made against him even though he was subsequently acquitted.

Arsenal could argue "innocent until proven guilty" but unless a club has it on good authority that player is subject to malicious allegations or blackmail attempt, the best course of action is to keep him out of the team.

It doesn't say a whole lot for how they conduct business that they kept him as part of the first team.

Yeah they would have a reputation of being traditional, old school club - whatever happens on the field is fair game and you take it and dish it out but expected players to behave properly off the field!
Guess the lure of chasing a possible title in last couple of seasons proved too much for them!

Strange that he was never charged until he became an x Arsenal player.

Bollocks. He’s now an ex-Arsenal player because the club finally realised the charges weren’t going to go away.

Terrible look for the club. Everton suspended Sigurdsson as soon as the allegations were brought.

Arsenal have fucked up big time here. Backed this scumbag because he might have helped them win something.

So fucking what like? It’s a fucking game. Something that people play.

People at Arsenal decided to keep this tramp, hide behind a legal process because of his perceived importance as a footballer, and then try wash their hands of him when the weight of evidence became too strong.

It was a fucking terrible call. Shame on everyone involved

By all accounts Arsenal and Partey were in negotiations and it was only an inability to agree terms that led to him not extending.

Not every case is identical and Sigurdsson situation involved a minor.

At the time it looked like the wrong call, based only on the evidence that was in the public domain. The fans' assumption was always that the club did a deeper dive and had access to info which they felt would justify their inaction.

Now that the police have reached the threshold of evidence to feel confident in a conviction it looks like a very very bad call from a moral perspective.

But now that he's no longer an Arsenal player they may well dodge a decent amount of the bad press.

I just hope the women involved get justice and, if found guilty, Partey has a few years behind bars to think about how much of a cnut he is.

Tbh, I can't argue with any of that.

The fact there's 3 separate women accusing him of it makes it all the more likely.....

As with a certain Dooblin thug, if you keep getting accused of the same thing by different women on multiple occasions.....

I don't really need to finish those sentences, do I? (Just for legal reasons adminy might not like)
