I posted earlier in the week, if they want to protest vote, then vote for Gavin as it can trigger a re-open nominations, say a fella comment on one of the far right misinformation page saying the same thing and the page replied 'no do not vote for Gavin as this is not a protest and if he wins Fianna Fail can claim back expenses'
You couldn't make it up like they have a perfect opportunity to protest with a vote which will potentially give them a chance to get their preferred candidate on the ballot but they won't because it means FF would be able to claim expenses.

People died for our right to vote alright but then Dev wrote up the Constitution so that the selection process for the presidency could be used by the likes of FFG to make sure threats, as they read it, to their electoral prospects could be excluded from the slate. Spoiling your vote in this contest is a rational means of protesting against such a rigged system in the hope that it might be reformed via a new constitutional provision or the largest political parties might act in a truly democratic manner. I'd suspect a lot of the votes for CC are protest votes too.
