The Next Uachtarán na hÉireann

Those within FF you mean - because if FF don't nominate him it's an absolute certainty nobody else would.

So go on Cranky, who is it within FF that Dirty Bertie is noising up?
The noise is coming from the media and outside the party. I’d vote for him but he won’t making it onto the ballot paper. I’ve been saying this here for days.

Nope. I simply stated he wasn’t found to be corrupt by the Tribunal, that is a fact. He was found to be lying to the tribunal about payments he received. Also a fact.

Read back the thread, I’ve called him unelectable and said FF won’t be running him.

"It’s easy to forget the good he did because of his transgressions. He took over at a time when our national infrastructure was in a truly appalling state. He didn’t get everything right but he made some improvements. He could have done better for sure but I think on balance his legacy is positive. Appreciate I’m in a minority."

I'm not going back through your drivel, but the above is definitely defending the pr!ck and not "I simply stated he wasn’t found to be corrupt by the Tribunal"

Connolly has announced she is standing, will she be pressed on Assad?
Saw this post on Reddit earlier, can anyone clarify it

Not a hope in hell will I be voting for her after her support for the Assad and Putin regimes. I hope she is raked over the coals by the media about that. That's before I even mention the lack of judgement required to nominate Gemma O'Doherty for the Presidency in 2018.

I hope he gets the FF nomination just so he gets totally destroyed before during and after the election.

He's a slimeball. His name is mud.

Even if FF are very close to FG (some would say they always were) under Micheál the largest party has been FF. He took over a party with 50+ fewer seats than FG in 2011 and fewer seats than Labour too. He’s turned FF into a permanent party of government again.

FG are on their 3rd leader in 14 years. Labour their 5th, SF their 2nd and the rest are not relevant enough to compare to. For all the talk of MLMD in 2020, Leo post 2020 and Harris when he took over last year MM has wiped the floor with the lot of them.

2016 General Election:

Vote Share: 24.3%
Vote Numbers: 519,356

2020 General Election:

Vote Share: 22.2%
Vote Numbers: 484,315

2024 General Election:
Vote Share: 21.9%
Vote Numbers: 462,000

A steady decline....

He stands for nothing. Less and less people voting Fianna Fail reflects this.
Martin should have gone before 2024 but his vanity and ego wouldn't allow it.

All so he can call himself 2 time Taoiseach before handing over to Simon Harris lol

FGs vote share has declined also because Irish politics has changed. We used to have a 2 and 1/2 party system where FF was twice as big as FG and FG were twice as big as Labour. Those days are over and they are never coming back.

The electorate clearly want coalition government and don’t want any party having too many seats. FF had nearly 80 seats for 14 years and I think the electorate don’t want one party alone being responsible for the running of the country again. The PDs from 97-11 and Greens from 07-11 were an irrelevance really.
