My eldest applied for it, flew through the various interviews etc.
Then he read about some court case, then another and he lost interest straight away.

He feels why would be spend time pursuing some scumbag only for a judge to let the scum walk.

I can't disagree with him.

The lack of proper punishment for criminals in this country and the lack of support by the legal business has a lot to answer for.

There's also a management and system that are happy for gardai on the street to be put through disciplinary procedures, including judicial cases, for minor deviations when doing their jobs. Bullying seems also to be an issue. A good Garda is not far from a criminal mind.
