Where are you getting that I said only SF?

I've not seen you mention any party other than SF?

And where are you getting that SF have confidence in the guy who said it was OK to be on a Public Only contract and treat private patients in a publicly funded hospital. TBH I'd have thought all of the Irish political parties would be against it.

Any word from the Attorney General btw - because whatever wording those consultants signed up to they seem very confident that they're within their rights to do what they're doing, and meanwhile the Minister and Taoiseach have both publicly said it has to stop.
Surely the Government can point to some advice from the Attorney General at this stage?

Jessica Struthers anyone? That's a surname I've never heard before.

She looks like she wouldn't be out of place in Fredz.

She'll be getting my vote.

City Hall Irish language officers will be busy today in translating he name.
As a help to them it is Neessa Ni Strugachan.
( there is no J in Irish )
Jess as she is known to her friend is a proud proud Republican whose ancestors were executed by the British in the struggle.
That is enough for me but for the life of me cannot understand why she did not vote for the Irish unity motion.

Looks like the gobshites have backed down for now but I wouldn't trust them

RTE news : Rotunda agrees to Govt policy over public contracts

Hope the Govt go after the consultants who were double jobbing. Good that they shut the door on such greed.

JCMcN’s next job should be to sort out the Profusionist issue. HSE should be implementing the WRC recommendation pronto. Crazy that it was left deteriorate into a strike!

Why would you 'go after' a consultant.

Believe it or not we need these skilled doctors far more they need the headache. Try to squeeze them financially and they will just go work somewhere else.

I suspect they won't, as long as they now adhere to the contract and while it's a win for Slaintecare, they should be watching out for similar attempted strokes and come down hard.

As for the perfusionists issue, IF it is true that the HSE have not implemented a Labour Court agreement then that needs to change.

PS, "today's 24-hour strike has led to the cancellation of 14 cardiac surgeries, including two paediatric cases." is outrageous by the Union and their members, these aren't fucking widgets.

Because they broke a contract they entered of their own volition and took extra money to which they weren't entitled. Why should we as a state permit that kind of carry on - oh, it's a consultant, they're above the law are they?

Yeah because there are so many of them just sitting about. Ffs

Anyone else you think should be above the laws of the land?

On the one hand the Profusionists, of whom there are only 25 nationwide, aren't getting paid by the HSE what was recommended in the courts, but you think in a hospital funded by the same HSE, with 32 consultants in that hospital alone, that those consultants are untouchable because they're so rare do you?
