Ah - if we don't have some immigration there may be a problem in 20 years time - gotcha (y)

Listening to some Greeners we mightn't even have a planet left in 20 years time.
If there isn't immigration, there WILL be a problem. And that immigration cannot be taken for granted and can bring ots own social tensions. Plus, with a declining fertility rate, you got a breakdown in family structures with negative consequences following on. The decline in fertility rates seems to be a cultural shift rather than economic-based. A change in mindset is needed.

The CSO are experts in this stuff so I listen to their analysis and recommendations and take them very seriously.

Climate change denial isn’t a great look tbh.
The climate change brigade have been saying with fifty years or more that the end is nigh. Develop some healthy scepticism and don't use the cheap, loaded "denier" tag.

But we can see the climate change around us. Temperatures are rising every year in summer and winter and we are getting more extreme weather events.

Good climate policies such as more public transport benefit everyone.

Ponzi scheme economics

In fact importing low-skilled workers is unlikely to deliver a clear net benefit to the Irish economy and in many standard economic analyses, it tends toward a net cost.
Low-skilled/lower-educated migrants typically contribute less in taxes (lower earnings) while using similar or higher services (education for children, healthcare, housing support, potential welfare).

Equating climate change to the end of the planet is a worse look tbh. Were you called Chicken Little as a youngster by any chance?

I work alongside high skilled immigrants. Not sure why you introduced low-skilled/lower-educated migrants to the conversation tbh - except to have some kind of argument 🤷‍♂️

In years where we've had a declining birth rate, and I'd venture to suggest that's not a recent phenomenon, our population has constantly expanded. We grew up with families of 3, 4, 5 and more kids. Nowadays I'd say the average family is down around 2 kids or even below. And yet the population of this state has expanded from about 3.5M in the 1960s to nearer to 5.5M today. I don't see the need for immediate panic to be honest.

I’ve no idea what that means.

I’d rather listen to scientists and experts on climate change than an uninformed opinion on a regional talkpage.

Why would anyone argue against highly skilled immigrants coming into the country? They are a net benefit to the economy. Throwing out unlimited work visas and student visas to unskilled workers isnt adressing the birth rate its just putting additional strain on the countrys coffers.

From the evidence you'd rather ascribe bizarre statements to others on a regional talkpage in order to try make yourself look less foolish.

I never denied climate change boppy, no matter how much you'd like to pretend I did.
