Jeeeeeeebus wept!

Google it if you don't believe me - China is burning far more coal than the rest of the world combined!

You were grand and happy telling me that China is great for producing turbines and solar panels (you even quoted figures) but as soon as your asked about their HUMUNGOUS fossil fuel consumption "Ah - you're no expert on Chinese energy industry" - and you have the brass neck to say others aren't debating in good faith.

And yet more of your bad faith debating style has you attributing to me something I haven't said. I never once suggested Ireland should do nothing to combat Climate Change. I said that we shouldn't pauper ourselves by trying to be best in class for the Greeners though. There is quite a difference.

Now if you're going to quote us figures about how much solar panels and wind turbines the Chinese are producing at least have the good grace to accept, from the same google pages, that China is burning gargantuan amounts of coal
Donald Trump here la with his all capital letter words.

That’s me shown. 😂

I’d very much be in favour of ring fencing carbon taxes to measures which help people reduce their dependency on fossil fuels. We can’t be ambitious enough in this area.
We're simply not pulling out the stops at all. I cannot understand the argument about our emissions being miniscule in relation to China's. Yep, so if we want China to reduce emissions, we're in no position to talk if we're not already working hard to do it ourselves. Take away their arguments. Same applies to any other country.

I'll say this much for China, they're not stupid and they take a long term view. The West is stupid, and we don't take a long term view. China will leverage all of this to its advantage, and when they decide they're ready to switch to clean energy, there'll be no ifs or buts.

I fully agree on ring fencing taxes, but take that issue up with the permanent government, not any individual party. Those fuckers are the biggest barrier to progress in this country, and they get away with it scot free, while a bunch of reactionary simpletons get distracted by the Green Party.

Ah yes the best in class argument. Its working a charm alright. what were those recent protests about again?

I think we need to class windmills and solar farms as critical infrastructure with no obstacles to planning.
Improving rail and buses whilst very welcome is a drop in the ocean because of this country’s rural disconnect and amount of commercial vehicles on the road

Renewables arent anywhere near where they need to be to match demand in this country. engaging in this fiction whilst simultaneously importing fracked gas and nuclear produced power would be funny if it wasnt so warped. this is what happens when ideologues are given the keys to critical infrastructure

China are going to peak their carbon usage by 2030 and be carbon free by 2060.

If, despite already burning 40% more coal than the rest of the planet combined, China still hasn't hit the max, then by 2060 there mightn't be a huge amount of the planet left to save. Isn't Ireland due to be carbon neutral by 2050? So China are going to carry on at their huge levels 10 years after us?

Dougal here la with his quoting some things from Google but denying direct quotes from Google. You're the epitome of what's wrong with the Greeners in general and Eamon Ryan in particular - ye only want to quote the stats that suit your argument and then do a "I'm not listening" routine on other stats from the same sources.

Extolling China as somehow being THE paragons of virtue in terms of Green Agenda shows just how f**ked up you are. It's the equivalent of "Never mind the quality, feel the length"

That’s their stated policy. I have no clue beyond that.
