Well if they were say looking after kids in 6th class and those kids then are finished whatever primary school it is, what do they do then ?

No context at all. They had a school in Dublin going from 9 SNAs to 3.5 based on a revised figure.

The headline is obviously disastrous but what drove the change?

Did the school have a smaller enrollment?

Did they hire more teachers so class sizes are smaller?

Do that have fewer kids with special needs?

Is a special school or one with an autism unit open locally?

At the same time govt are saying there are more SNAs than ever

There was no context, if it was just cuts yes it's a disaster but we don't know that

There could be more kids starting in junior infants with special needs the following September.
The way I see it there are more and more children coming into the education system with special needs and the requirements will be for more SNAs rather than less to ensure the smooth running of classrooms.
