Do you think people would watch horse racing or greyhound racing if it weren't a vehicle for gambling?

Horse racing has the pageantry and wankery that might keep toffs coming.

But greyhound racing, I mean, simply put, it would be over in the morning without gambling.

Do you think people would watch horse racing or greyhound racing if it weren't a vehicle for gambling?

Horse racing has the pageantry and wankery that might keep toffs coming.

But greyhound racing, I mean, simply put, it would be over in the morning without gambling.

Dont think they would survive without gambling but whats the problem with the usual 100 -200 people who go to curaheen or Shelbourne park on a saturday night to enjoy a night at the dogs and maybe have a few flutters ? .

Its just a way of life for alot of people who maybe grew up with greyhounds or bought one to enjoy watching them run.

Everyone have their own hobbies and i see nothing wrong with horse or greyhound racing being funded as a sport just like many other sports .

Big race meetings also have a big knock.on effect on the economy drawing people in like punchestown or Leopardstown festivals with Hotels ,Bars and restaurants all sharing benifits of big crowds .
