The next Government

Who will form the next government

  • Total voters
    56
  • Poll closed .
I would think so - will be higher turnout in ge than in locals and higher turnout should suit opposition.
Older voters (who still tend to be FF/FG) more diligent in exercising their right to vote in all elections whereas younger voters more likely to skip local or euros but will come out for GE or a cause (repeal the 8th, etc).
Also consider SF/IRA's largest fan base, those that live in sink hole / council estates etc, do not go out as much as others to cast their votes.

There is something going to happen in the next GE that never or very rarely happened before, people will transfer between FG and FF and vice versa.
That is something I believe is not being considered in any of the polling.
The vast majority of voters do not want SF /IRA in Government and will vote accordingly.

I agree with you on transfers. Plenty dont knows too. I don't really want SF in power either, but i won't be voting for Mehole or soundbite Simons crew to keep them out.

I'm not a fan of Mary Lou but she's had a tough time of late with her own health issues and her husband has been unwell too.

I see her leading SF into the next election of course but she needs to recharge the batteries and tone down the aggression which has been her most dominant feature as a politician upto now.

A firmer grasp of policy detail is also needed.

M8, you're an idiot.

I've been one of Sinn Fein's most vocal critics on here as long as you're posting.

Grow up a small bit

Talking about 'sink hole estates' and all people who vote for a party as being 'scum' is just really childish stuff
The M8 is a motorway, I am not a mate of yours either.
It is absolutely none of your business as to where it is that I live.
Your handle has only shown up recently, I have been posting on this site for a long long time.

I don't need to grow up.

The facts remain, those sink hole estates which I mentioned are always local authority owned. Those living in those places follow Sinn Fein / IRA probably because of the easy answers to everything that they preach.

It is not childish, it is factual.

She's not able to change imho.

Her go to mode is defensive and probably understandable given that historically sf would have a lot of shit thrown at them.

And rightly so.

They'd probably do a lot better with MON. Softer edges.

Lol where do you live again?

Meri, I was raised on council estates and have canvased door to door for FF in general elections.
My cousin was raised in another council estate and was a FF member and former lord mayor.
As a child my own father would drag me along to FF meetings and he was asked to run for them but declined.

These sinkholes estates you speak of are now mostly owned by former tenants.
Look outside their doors and most will have two modern cars in the driveways and the homes are all updated. Do you
think they were all SF voters?

Your constant belittling of council estates do your party no favours. I imagine that anyone reading your comments and witnessing the failures of this government will consider it a sign of arrogance and presumed untouchability. You may be doing those you support a disservice in that people believe you're echoing your party's beliefs.

You're a good bloke Meri but you need to tone it down if you want to see your party back in government.
