The Munster Rugby Thread 24/25

I was at the Dexcom stadium. It's a lovely setup they have there in fairness. There were some amount of G4 poshos at it though, along with a good mix of Munster alickadoos. I bought a portion of chips inside under the stand, and they were nice. Not crappy auld chip van caper. Also got a slice of pizza outside. A bit pricey you could argue, but a decent enough slice. The walk to the ground is grand as well.

I was talking to a Connacht supporter and he said a lot of the hardcore fans have season tickets for the new stand but prefer the banter on the South Stand terrace. Consequently they've been coming over and that's contributed to the dangerously over crowded terraces.

That's seems to why they stamp the back of your hand with "South Stand", however when we came in thru the turnstile, there was a young fella stamping the hands at gate F but not at gate G. So I didn't get stamped but my wife did as she went in the other turnstile.

When we went to make our way onto the terrace thru the centre doors under the stand, there was only one girl checking for stamp and completely overwhelmed. As my wife was showing her stamp myself and others just walked past. The stewards couldn't cope with the numbers.

That's actually reassuring to hear. I'm glad that there was a reason it was so packed in the South stand, and that's not just a normal busy night, because it was dangerously crowded.

It makes sense too why they were so strict with the stamps on our wrists. That indoor area of the South Stand could be class, but not with those crowds. We divided and conquered at half time with herself queuing for pizza and me getting the pints in. We left our spots before half time and still missed the start of the second half because the queues were so long and the service was so slow. It can't cope with the crowds.

Also how fucking cold was it on Saturday? Herself watched most of the second half indoors on the big TV, and she said it was packed with people doing the same.

Some fella was pissing me off towards the end and I called him a cunt, not proud of myself.

And as referenced, a lot of G4 types around as well in their brown shoes and "big job up in Dublin" coats. Pricks.

It was fecking baltic in the ground. I'd hate to be there on a wet winter evening. I had to buy a Connacht wooly hat. The lads with me, who would be rugby supporters (I am a fair weather sports fan) assured me it is ok with Connacht hat, but a no no for an Ulster or Leinster hat. Ball hopping possibly.
I went in under the stand to watch a bit of it and to munch down on my chips like the bogger that I am. Fecked off before it ended to town.
Since when has Galway city turned into Hibernoland / Disneyland?

I'll tell you this lads, the atmosphere in that Dexcom Stadium is second to none in my experience of Irish grounds. Probably down to the fact that the terraces were grossly oversold, but it felt like a proper cauldron when the Connacht fans got going. So handy for town too, we walked back to Eyre Square in around 10 minutes and then up to Tigh Neachtain for a scelp of pints.

I felt like a gobshite after around 35 minutes. I had been loudly cheering for Munster in amongst the Connacht fans, and I left my spot to get a beer before the crowds. This lad saw me and said "heading away already are you?".

I am now 100% convinced that Claymac will be gone at the end of the season.
Thomond Park was stripped of its intimidating atmosphere by building rugby-ball shaped stands. Too many of the spectators are too far from the pitch. In some places high up you’re watching the pitch between your knees.
Connachts new set up looked good and Ravenhill which has a capacity of “only” 19K I think is a great atmospheric ground because it’s low stands surrounding the pitch.

Just another case of Munster behind the scenes screwing up😔

I feel really bad for him. He came to Munster on his own. A few months in he decided he needed to bring in someone from his past career who he could trust, and that was taken away from him through a combination of Ruadhri O'Treacy and social media gobshites who wouldnt know a rugby ball from a tennis racket.

He's on the other side of the world from home and is being left out in the cold. I hope he knows that the majority of fans are fully on his side
Billy Holland, Mick O’Driscoll, and Killian Keane are
“social media gobshites who wouldnt know a rugby ball from a tennis racket.”🤔

Are you very new to following rugby by any chance🤷‍♂️

What did those three say about the topic? I don't recall reading any comments from them?
