The Missing in Action Thread.

Maybe admin should be stronger and not pander to such people. If Admin instituted a rule whereby anything that Admin has left up for a year or more shouldn't be a banning offence (if it's offensive then surely it should be taken down rather than left in place and the original poster banned), and that in any given period of time, nobody should be allowed dob in more than one poster - say a maximum of one Report per year or whatever.
It’s up to admin how they run the forum but I agree that going back over old posts is unfair.

That being said, blaming other people for being given the line is childish. We are all adults and are responsible for our own actions.

Youd be a lot better off using the PROC as a genuine outlet than getting smashed on yokes in Galway 😉

#truefact.

Online is a part of the real world now whether we like it or not.
That's probably more difficult for old farts like us to fully accept or understand but being insulted online can be just as hurtful as being insulted to your face in certain situations.

The whole "don't take this place so serious" or "this isn't the real world" doesn't really wash anymore because if feelings were that easy to control then excessive use of social media and the online bullying that often accompanies it wouldn't be having such a detrimental affect on people's mental health.

If you are the type of person who can easily disregard personal insults from strangers online then good for you but don't ever assume the person you are insulting can as well and just as importantly don't scoff at them if they admit they can't.

We live in a digital world now and I think we need to adjust how we interact in it accordingly.

Great post, well said.

It's probably a good idea not to say anything to someone you wouldn't say to their face. (And i know I've done the exact opposite over the years. The anonymous nature of the INTERNET makes it easy to get abusive. )
