Why are respected Academics and Universities worried so?

I’m sure you’ll find academics who hold differing opinions also.

Whereas I believe the exact opposite. We could enshrine the triple lock so peacekeeping is maintained. We could (can) augment our air and sea capability militarily, as much as we want to protect ourselves because our neutrality wouldn't prevent us from such a defence. If anything it would empower future governments to defend the state.

See that’s where we differ. The triple lock has nothing whatsoever to do with neutrality.
