I had pericarditis when I was 29, horrible thing as you’re flying and it literally comes out of nowhere. Went from being the fittest I ever was and playing lots of sport to ICU for 5 days with no warning

Awful. Hurling is just a sport. Terrible to think about someone going to a game, togging out, wondering about how they might play for the hour then to never come back inside the dressing room

Myocarditis is very serious. It can weaken the lining of the heart , engaging in rigorous sport after this can greatly increase chances of cardiac arrest and sudden death, which unfortunately looks to have been the case here.


I'd be surprised if there isn't a medical inquest .
