The Hurling Thread

It will also slow the game down as lads are willing to take the shot now. If it's rewarded with 2 points lads will practice more and get better much quicker at the highest level.

Mark Coleman used to regularly score them when he started first playing senior for Cork but obviously as the move to retain possession more and more came in, the necessity to practice dropped with him and others probably.
Dalton strikes them well too but most of the time they weren’t attempted, presumably under instruction not to.

The one team that never seem to attempt them at all is Limerick.
And it’s not that they don’t have anyone to take them, Darragh O’Donovan is well able. Maybe others too that I’m not aware of.

oh for sure. They will be lining up lineballs now like Ronaldo or Johnny Wilkinson doing a conversion
Now Not sure exact game think it was limerick v Galway 2020 where canning had 4 or 5 lineballs over the bar. Should they have been 2 pts then Galway would have won which have been a crime as Galway were pummeled all over the pitch and were beaten out the gate.

I'm not sure about this sideline cut rule.

I could foresee teams playing for sidelines somehow, putting it down into the opposition corner and trying to force them over the sideline.

The puck out rule will be a huge disadvantage to Cork

Another part of the rule is ref must blow the whistle

Nothing to stop teams withdrawing all players outside 45 now

Going to be some amount of rucks off breaking ball

Do they not have to keep 3 players each in both 45s on the puckout or just the 45 on the side the puckout is taken from?

Yes but that's 3 players between 21 and 45

Defending team can't touch ball before 45 so as attacking team why not retreat to the 45? Say the 44
Let any defenders nearer the goal

Game will be better for more contests. Short puckouts made total sense while within the rules of the game but lessened the spectacle imo. You want to see lads competing and more traditional contesting of the ball.

If it lands on the 45 it will be no different to this year tbh.

If I'm Cork I'm landing the ball deep in the opp 45 on top of both Walsh's and Hayes.

It's going to be ruck central. I don't mind the odd ruck but not loads of them, extremely boring.
