The Hurling Thread

What are people's thoughts on colm lyons as a ref? A friend of mine from galway text me earlier,

Does he try to let it flow or does he blow for everything? Does he like being centre of attention like some other refs or is he not bad? What are yer thoughts

Colm is one of the nicest people you could meet and no chance that he would “like being centre of attention like some other refs”.

I don't want either of them to win -so have to look at it in terms of who I'd prefer to lose 😅 probably be happy enough to see the Leinster team lose.

Just to be clear, do you also believe that Donal Og was “out of order” on Saturday when he brought up medals?
Pat Spillane has repeatedly asked Joe Brolly about his all Ireland medals, when embroiled in a dispute. “One all Ireland, Joe” . People thought it was funny.., what’s the issue here?

The obvious reply is that I’m sure many on here or indeed elsewhere would be happy if the medals issue was brought up with Patrick Horgan!
Do you disagree with me on this?

Tbh I only saw it back on Monday, he'd have been better off not saying it, it was a bit cringe.
I know he was riled up and trying to emphasise that JCs point was pretty nonsensical (which it was) - trains been booked for the 19th had eff all impact on mentality - but he lost the argument the minute he said it.

Funny tho the preachy tone that James O'Donoghue, a Kerry footballer no less, had whilst expounding on it on The Football Pod when, as you correctly pointed out, Pat Spillane and Kerry folk in general are always at that sh*te 😆
"Sometimes I just annoy him. Just before he starts going, I'd whisper to him 'one All-Ireland medal Joe, no one gives a shite'. And that bothers Joe. If there was an argument about football in a pub in Kerry and a fella with one All-Ireland medal tried to get involved, they wouldn't even listen to him. There would be lads with three or four in there."

Couldn’t care less. Everyone knows that Hoggy has no all Ireland’s. Likewise, Canning struggled to get his solitary all Ireland, late in his career. Fact is, there’s a precedent with Pat Spillane trivializing Brolly’s solitary all Ireland… used in the heat of a dispute.. which Cusack used to get a dig into Canning. If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen! Amazing that nobody brought up Spillane’s indiscretion, whilst painting Cusack as the big bad wolf. Fucking hilarious!

If you “Couldn’t care less” then why did you post on the subject?

Spot on! Paddy Andrews and James O’ Donoghue (aka Halle Berry) were pontificating on the rudeness of Cusack. The same guys who predicted that Donegal would beat Cork by 15 points. Enough said 😂😂😂
