It's a pity to see him go. Waterford were so unlucky this year, as Shane McGrath said "if they had ducks they'd drown", but they were definitely more competitive.Seems queally didn't have full support from the co board. He may well be able to persuade his good pal Pat Ryan to give it a go. I'd be supremely disappointed and I'd like to think the county board would move mountains to keep him here, maybe as 20s boss with a view to giving the Senior gig a cut again whenever Ben O'Connor's time ends. Although if Ben has a Brian Cody length of tenure then I'll be selfish and take that and all the silverware that would go with it!!!
Hindsight is a great thing sure, maybe the powers that be would have done things differently had their time back and might have learned from it. With regard to Waterford I dont think they are lacking fundamental skills , they have some great hurlers. For me i think they are looking up at Limerick , Tipp,Clare and Cork and seeing all Ireland winners in the first 3 and Cork who probably should have been winners.Disappointed to see Queally go. Came across as a genuinely good hurling guy and it's no wonder the Waterford players despite there faults all seemed to die on their shields for him in championship this year.
Cursed with injuries but I thought some of their 'bad luck' was very much of their own doing at times, im talking about poor decision making and dodgy first touch at times. I think if Waterford just went away and spent a night or two at training every couple of weeks doing the very basics of hurling like touch work and shooting and tackling they'd be far better off in the long run. Its not tactics/style or work rate that leave Waterford down. Its fundamental skill mistakes at crucial times under pressure.

Facing that level on competition needs mental strength and resilience as well as skills on the field. I think sometimes they look disheartened when things go against them and thats hard to shake if confidence in what they are aiming for is low. I know club is different but look at ballygunnar they never enter a field thinking they dont have a good chance that permeates into how they play.
I think waterford have the players and skills to do better that what they are currently doing for sure .
