The Hurling Thread

Yeah good survey, filled it out there. However there's a lot of crossover on some of the choices and you only get once choice on some of the really important stuff. Might have been better to give a graded multiple choice for more of the questions. Thanks for uploading it Mattie 👍

Generally good survey but the "biggest problem in hurling" question was strange. Three of the choices either directly or indirectly related to referees. Also nothing about things like:
1. Loss of skills (ground & overhead striking etc)
2. Too many scores
3. Modernisation of equipment (bas size, light sliotar etc) and their impact, eg scoring from inside your own 45.
An "Other" section would at least have allowed people to highlight issues they felt were important.

1993 was KK's last AI before 2000, so for that Twitter post to be correct there must have been five unsuccessful managers in the interim. I wouldn't know offhand if this is correct (I do recall Nicky Brennan having a short stint in charge during this period).
It was me that referenced that stat from Twitter, I think someone here might have read it wrong.
The stat was that only 2 of their last 7 managers have won all Irelands, not that the 5 managers directly before Cody failed to win one.

Of the 5 that didn’t win, Derek Lyng is one. The 2 prior to Cody (one being Nicky Brennan, I cant remember the other name) also. Before those 2 was Ollie Walsh who won 2 All Irelands as someone else mentioned. And before Ollie Walsh there were 2 more that never won an all Ireland, one being Eddie Keher.
So in the last 40+ years there have only been 2 KK managers who have won all Irelands, Cody and Ollie Walsh.
Now stats can be misleading at times, as that sounds like a terrible return, until you consider one of those 2 successful managers has won it 11 times. So it certainly wasn’t me throwing any stones at KK, it was just a surprising one to read.

Doesn't mean you can't enjoy them - like the fact that in the last 110 years only 2 Man Utd Managers have been league Champions.
