The Hurling Thread

A frankly extraordinary interview on Morning Ireland with the Group Head of Sport regarding tv coverage of GAA.

Suggested Friday night championship games.

Go and get fucked.

You only have to look at football in the UK, Stuff is happening now that people said would never happen, 2035 munster final will
be played in New york

The GAA would have to pay players wages for at least a half day on the Friday, probably a full day.

I think this would be a long long way off yet!
And there’d be uproar from people with kids that it’d be impossible to bring kids to matches after school.

Was he asked any questions about his own abysmal coverage of Gaelic games? No magazine mid week programme, league Sunday/Sunday game same tired brutal format it has always been, podcast that is almost shameful it’s so bad and a list of tired commentators who needed to be put out to pasture a long time ago……Rte gaa coverage is all about domination of the market and produce it as a bog standard slop production as people have no where else to view the games

He was. First he blamed the GAA for not having games on Saturday lunchtimes and afternoon and at the end he mentioned about Friday nights.

In between he was asked about streaming to show more than one game at a time and said that would dilute the quality of the coverage and said basically people should stop whingeing that their county’s match isn’t on tv. As you say it’ll all about retaining market domination.

Head in the sand stuff.
