The Hurling Thread

“We are doing no hurling in November, it’s all boxing,” outlined Limerick senior hurling manager John Kiely.

What's wrong with that?

There has been head high tackles in the past few years from all teams including Cork.

Limerick play on the edge and hit hard without a doubt but to go out and say they target opponents with head high tackles and call it a ‘fact’ isn’t based in reality.
Yes agree.
Its spread over the past few years. See it in almost every game now. One or two head high hits.
Some accidental, granted.
But some not so accidental.
But limerick introduced this.
Same as the way KK introduced a new level of physicality (fouling) in the noughties.

Ah you’re being very unfair there now Rebel. Some of the greatest players ever to play the game on that Limerick team. Lynch, Gillane, Hegarty, Hayes and more. All fierce tough but no dirt there and certainly none premeditated re head hits.
As i said. Lots to admire about limerick. Agree, some of those players are in the list of all time greats.
But just stating a clear observation around some of their head high tackling through that successful era.

So Limerick under Kiely invented the head high tackle, I’ve heard it all now.

You’re entitled to your opinion like everyone else but I think that’s very unfair commentary and very disrespectful of one of the greatest teams of all time.
