The Hurling Thread

You can only punish the club if the ‘supporter’ is a registered member, it would be interesting to see if this character is a registered member of the club
Even then it's unfair on the club. Realistically the club can do absolutely nothing substantial to curb a supporters behaviour up in the stand or on the bank.

If he's a player, a mentor or member of tye backroom staff on the line then ya I'd have no sympathy for the club getting a severe reprimand but as mentioned above if some headcase buys a club jersey and goes to a game and climbs the fence then what really can the club do.

I would say the Offaly county board, the Leinster council and central council need to just ban this fruitcake from games and have the gardai deal with him going forward if he causes trouble.

He's a lucky boy. Mullen was just after breaking his thumb so fighting with some randomer was the last thing on his mind. I'd say Mullen would have pucked the head off him otherwise. Thought Ballyhale showed serious discipline to not react even worse and fair play to the Killcormac player who restrained your man as well.

How do you ban someone? Have "wanted" style posters at every turnstile?

By all accounts he's well known in Offaly hurling circles so wouldn't be too hard to prevent him attending games in Birr or Tullamore. Granted its much harder to do in local club grounds and would be hard to do in provincial grounds as well but I suppose anytime he's recognised just prevent him entering and call the Gardai if he kicks off.

I'll repeat what I've said multiple times after incidents like this - punish the club for the actions of their supporters.
his not a payed member of kilcormac killoughey he goes to matches not just hurling football also. yes he should be banned from tullamore and birr grounds. but how can club members stop him driving around the country to hurling games. and it wasn't the kilcormac supporters who were fighting just this header.
