The Hurling Thread

Not unexpected. Seamus found his place taken by both O Connor and Shane o brien. He was playing very poorly at that point aswel. Apparently was unhappy he was only making the bench for both Munster final and subsequent dubs game and whispers was he left the squad at that point. The Niall o Leary incident was poorly thought of by management who were keen to draw a line under it. Seamus felt unsupported.

Subsequent media appearances after the season suggested he wasn’t returning under current management. I think unlikely current management group go beyond this season and he probably hopes to return so I’d say unlikely to see a “retirement “ tweet

Pity he was a fans favourite and always gave so much hard work on the field. if gotten back to form was a a decent player but jk and kinnerk can be ruthless.
Flanagan owes ye nothing. A brilliant player on his day. Largely forgotten (on Leeside maybe anyway) his 3 goals against Cork in the RR in 2024. He nearly sank us that summer on his own. A brilliant performance. I’ll remember him for his over the head / out on the wing points. He had an unbelievable knack for them.

BOC should invite him onto to Cork panel for the craic.

anyone watching Ballygunner v Na Piarsaigh? Just saw the hafltime score, 0-8 to 0-5 on as good a day weather wise as you'll get this time of year. 1st half really that poor?

It has been an excellent match from the throw in. Ballygunner held the whip hand for the first half but Na Piarsaigh are well back into it now. The Ref doesn't believe in the use of the whistle. Lots of throwing of the ball and spare hand tackles by the new time.

Lots of rucks are spiking the flow. 2 dodgy frees given against na piarsaigh. After a poor start Na Piarsaigh have pushed up on the BGlunner puck out and have been the better team. They'll be kicking themselves if they don't win it as they've had a load of swdes

Wides
Ballygunner finishing strongly and way more efficient in their shooting.

Ref missed some blatant throws by BG players in the last few mins, one of them directly lead to a score. He definitely gave the big calls in their favour late on.

Good game. 2 pretty strong teams. NAP had some desperate wides, particularly from frees. Downes had a rough day.
