The Hurling Thread

Those two games are totally irrelevant just like our first game in Gaelic grounds was irrelevant when it came to Munster final.
What is the point of going in to a final with out self belief or confidence.
Neither team will be talking about the results of those games bar for analysis purposes.
If they play the perfect game Sunday week that they are capable of they will win, if we do the same we will win.
Previous results mean nothing.
Saying our first game in the GG was irrelevant when it came to the MF is just downright dumb.
The way we played in the MF was 100% fuelled by the desire to make up for the humiliation of the RR game as much as it was about winning the title itself.

The league final and the Tipp RR are far enough away that they may not have any profound effect on the attitude or confidence of the players, true.
Though it is unlikely that they will have left no imprint.

I was crediting Cahill and co for their self belief and confidence, and wondering at it too.

JBM’s not an old timer, the likes of him is the reason half the county picked up a hurley. If you’re brushing him off, you’re not edgy or clever, you’re just broadcasting your cluelessness.. 👌
Half the county, including myself, were JBM out the back garden scoring the winning goal for Cork- before driving the sliotar through the kitchen window.

The man is inspirational, I'd follow him into battle, he was right about Cork just not being good enough last year- but I'd still prefer he said nothing about the favourites tag. Pat Ryan is saying zip about anything all through his term, some of the stalwarts should do the same. This is not a Cork thing, it's the other counties picking up on anything for motivation, which is exactly what Tipp will do.

I was surprised to be honest when it came out. It just felt a bit not like him.

Two months ago JBM gave his honest opinion. He sandwiched it lovely by mentioning that we didn’t perform in the AI last year and would only win an AI this year if we played to our potential.

Every ex player in both counties is being asked their opinions as always.
There must be 20 doing the national media paid round at the moment. JBM isn’t one of those.
Go look at what Nicky English has to say on Off The Ball this week… Come back to me when you have…
Here is a snippet!!!

We are favourites, we can't do anything about that. Last years winners gone, Limerick gone, Kilkenny gone. Just a young Tipp team eager to give their old rival a blood nose and us, last years runners up. We have to live with the favourites tag especially now having made the final and justified it.
We should win this, doesnt mean we will but we should. If we lose the team will be on the floor but Im convinced the hurt of last year will give them the edge to reach their obvious potential and win this.

Yep- saw Nicky say that, couldn't care less. I'm more worried about our own, and from a legend such as Jimmy. Jimmy saying "justifiably hot favourites to win it" no matter what the surrounding context was just sticks out, especially at a time when the Paddy Power paying out thing occurred (bad timing).

Respectively, I disagree, it's done now anyway. Best of luck to all in the Barrs.

As a group last year is now a huge benefit to all involved, also playing Saturday is an advantage as Pat referenced at the weekend, in addition for all the bullshit media references to ‘hype’ (whatever the fuck that is) in cork our friends in the north and south riding put us in the hapenny place when it comes to it

Mention of north and south riding has poor jimmy in an awful lather and wondering if he should change allegiance - still wouldn't score in a brothel our jimmy
