The Hurling Thread

Lads, we are doing this, 100%. Now, if most of ye weren't such freeloaders, GM would leave a quart behind the bar with his winnings for all 7 of ye and Matlock. Yermon is a notable exception but some would argue, he's had his fill already.

I think this is a fairly weak take if I'm honest.
This time last year people were saying it would take Tipp years to rebuild - and here they are in a final.
Now they're set to dominate for years to come...ffs!!

Predicting a certain negative future, based on the outcome of one game that's yet to be played, is catastrophising in the extreme.

Also, running through all these fear laden posts, is a clear thread that people don't really rate our own team.
Don't really believe in how good they are.
Well they are bloody good, with the potential to be extraordinary if they get the performance right.

This final is about winning this final, simple as that.
All that other stuff is bs as far as I'm concerned.
No what I mean is that eventually a team has to take the chance presented if they want to make a breakthrough. This is our chance. Hoggie and Harnedy will be gone in 2/3 years and a few more will be 30 or on the wrong side of. Win it now and the transition becomes much much easier.

Babs Keating is no more writing that crap than Babs Windsor from the Carry on movies. Ghosting. Regardless take no notice.
Doesn't matter, that stuff can go very wrong whether it's said or not. "Lord Mayor of Galway, have a look at that", Babs with the Donkeys remark, etc.

Doubtcha Babs- probably half of Tipp going "Oh FFS Babs, can someone shut him up!"

To be honest, I had hoped JBM never opened his mouth earlier in the campaign on the favourites tag. And so it goes.

Good points but they are from our perspective.

I put forward Tipps perspective. It’s just perspective and the possible motivators. Tipp will be looking to atone for the mauling we gave them in PUC in the Munster championship. There’s a bunch of players thete with All Irelands in their pockets and they will have no fear of Cork etc.

Reality for Tipp in 11 days time might be very different though.
and the hammering in Thurles in 2024 will be on their minds

I can tell you that JBMs very considered and thoughtful opinion was very welcome by those involved. It was taken as massive vote of confidence in the camp.
JBM doesn’t go around spouting crap at all. He doesn’t say much but when he does it’s worth listening to.
What JBM said was spot on.. we didn’t perform in the AI last year, didn’t do enough on the day to win, but it was a marvelous spectacle. That Cork now are a fabulous group of players with two incredible straight talking honest guys in Pat Ryan and Wayne Sherlock guiding them. That the tag of favorites was justified but Cork have to perform to their potential to win it.

The man, the legend, is spot on.

Up we go next week and blow everyone out of our way and grab the bloody cup by the 2 ears.

It seems to me like the modern GAA fan believes that simulataneously the players are better prepared and more professionally organised than ever before but what some old timers say on podcasts or the media is a key determinant of success.

For Gods sake it doesn't matter a fuck lads. Players do not need to know what Babs or anyone says to be up for an All Ireland final.
