The Hurling Thread

I think O' Donoghue was going for goal. Maybe he knew they had a advantage so it was a free hit, Murphy will be very disappointed, just took a step in the wrong direction at the wrong moment but it was a great shot. The scoreboard/final score farce needs more investigating-this from the examiner- btw RTE did not have it correct until well after final whistle. That point put Tipp 4 up, KK had time to level with points if it was not a score.

There was confusion over the final score in Tipperary's All-Ireland semi-final victory over Kilkenny.

The scoreboard in Croke Park - and the tally on RTÉ - had Tipperary victorious by 4-21 to 0-30. However, that Tipperary tally appears to include a late Noal McGrath point that was waved wide by the umpires.

It is unclear if the signal was incorrect and the score was good, or if the Croke Park scoreboard was incorrect.

The match officials, including referee James Owens, were seen conferring for some time on the field following the final.

RTÉ's have since confirmed that the final score of 4-21 to 0-30 is correct.

I got talking to a good few Tipp people after the match and they were hugely critical of him but also Liam Cahill for not whipping him off.
He’s got the quality but you have to question has he got it upstairs but as you say maybe Cahill hasn’t handled him well either..Obviously someone had him worked up into a frenzy to be sent off within 30 seconds down The Pairc …
