The Hurling Thread

Didn't realise that some kildare underage teams play championship in KK ,same as Carlow apparently, that's great for hurling in those counties especially as they will be playing at a higher standard even at KK b or c level.
Great initiative, anyone know if it's being down in Munster (no jokes 🙄) say the obvious one Kerry ,they have been making strides at raising the game there and this sounds like something they could do. Clubs bordering cork and lim underage playing in those county championships.
Hurling is too good a game to let stagnate and not grow and develop
In return, Cork clubs could play in the Kerry football leagues.

Naas play in the Dublin leagues up to U13 and then they move back to Kildare. They applied this year for their U13 side to stay in Dublin for an additional year but got turned down by the Dublin Co board.

They have massive numbers down there and producing seriously good teams. They would have been a solid Division 1 side at their own age group and the same team won their top division a year up at ease. Nice lads on the line too

Byrnes is a weak link and Kilkenny will exploit that..
KK will put Adrian Mullen on Byrnes wing.

He never stays in position and scores freely off his left & right so it will force Byrnes on the back foot turning which he is terrible at.

Coughlan is slow as a bus when turning back to goals too, it’s why Kiely won’t start him in the big the Croke Park matches.

100% he is the weak link. I wonder will Kiely put Will o'Donoghue centre back and Hayes back on the wing. Kiely made a big mistake taking Donoghue off yesterday unless he was injured
Byrnes has lost a yard for sure but Kyle will stay put. DOD is a huge loss in the centre for his ball winning and distribution. A crowded middle doesn't suit Adam at all .... if DOD could refind form Limerick will be a different animal.... a huge if tho.

Assuming Byrnes will start, I wouldn’t be surprised to see O Neill start there
Father time catches up with us all unfortunately

I think Kilkenny are doing a lot of good work promoting hurling in the surrounding counties.

The idea of getting Kerry teams to play underage in surrounding counties is a very good idea, if at all possible.
Even start with special inter county competitions.

No chance of Kerry joining Cork anyways..
It’s a nice idea but they’d be crossing football territory for their 1st hour inside the County boundary.
Think about and if you can come up with a viable plan including what division they’d play in post it here. The Kerry hurling nucleus is almost 2 hours from Cork city.
Duhallow clubs are struggling hugely already with hurling and most if not all clubs are now in amalgamations underage, some amalgamations even requiring 3 clubs to field teams. Even the likes of senior clubs like Kanturk and Mallow over in Avondhu have had years where they can’t field minor or U21 teams, even pre covid.
The Duhallow amalgamations then have to travel over to the North Cork/Avondhu division then to get games at their grade. .

I honestly can’t see Kerry teams travelling 4 hours every week to get games.
