The Hurling Thread

Saying limerick have a "good few" scumbags is a serious accusation. No one can dispute what Hayes done and he can't complain about the abuse he gets but apart from that I don't know what you're talking about.
Every team has players that cross the line on the pitch at times. Literally everyone. But when the game is over and the adrenaline dials down most players are decent lads who are just out to do their best representing their county and clubs.
Theres been around 4 players on this panel involved in pub assaults.
And thats just off the pitch.
On the pitch. Targetted head-shots on opposition players.
But probably the scummiest thing i ever saw on a pitch was Cian Lynch purposely breaking a Cork players hurley. You'd want to have the mind of a scut to even think of doing that to a lads hurley. Total lack of class

Was it not Mulcahy?

4 players? Do you have proof or is that Internet gossip? There's rows in pubs every weekend of the year across the country.
If you're talking about on the pitch I can name players from numerous counties who have done as bad, If not worse than limerick players.
This year alone, conor Cooney put in one of the worst head shots I've seen against a limerick player which you probably didn't see.
Alan Connolly the same in the fitzgibbon semi final. Declan Dalton, darragh mccarthy, David Fitzgerald.
Will I go on?

Any man with a bit of common sense would know Limerick have a certain someone playing who if he was your average man would be behind bars. Pat Ryan was dropped from the Limerick panel over another incident. You’d leave off the on the pitch stuff as everyone is at it these days. Most head accidents happen in a blink of an eye with the game so fast and hardly any are intentional.

Obviously I'm not referring to Hayes. Yes he should be behind bars.
Pat Ryan incident was harmless.

Pat Ryan, Aaron Gillane, Kyle Hayes all been involved in assaults in pubs.
In relation to head-shots. I don't dispute there is the odd one from players from other counties. But:
1) I condone these also and support any punishment meted out to them;
2) These are lone-wolf instances. With Limerick a couple years ago (admittedly not as bad now, because refs cottoned on to their antics) it was so clearly systematic and drilled into them to go looking for these cheap head shots, once they could get away with it. (Kind of like how Clare's diving and cheating is systematic and drilled into them).
3) What limerick introduced, other teams have copied. Thats why we are seeing it spread. I consistently called this out on this forum over the past few years, that it would become a contagion in the sport because it wasnt being adressed, by referees, or media, or even on forums like this. Everyone just wants to sweep it under the carpet and pretend it isn't happening. Similar to rugby 20-30 years ago before rules around tackling, head high tackles, collapsing scrums/mauls, spear tackles, etc were really enforced. That was kind of when the really serious spinal and neck injuries disapeared from the game.

You do condone or don't condone?
