The Hurling Thread

This Clare team are the poorest team to win an All Ireland in my lifetime.
But lookit they have one.
Far from it ,they may not have too many flashy hurlers but they are a fine side with some great players ,we limerick beat them twice last year and they still went on to win a great all ireland final .
Can't warm to lohan ,hates limerick and at this stage it's mutual but credit where it's due,the only stat that counts at the end of the year is who won the all ireland.

Would have very little time for Clare hurling but to say they've been terrible champions is a bit harsh.
I don't ever recall All Ireland champions having as bad an injury crisis as Clare this year.
O Donnell, Ryan, Cleary, TK, Conlon have all missed crucial games due to injury. On top off that there's rumours of division creeping into the camp which would explain Aidan McCarthys ommission today while playing for Inagh last night. That's 6 of their All Ireland starting 15 missing over the course of 3 games. It's unsustainable really.
Age profile against them as well so could be a bit of a rebuild job on the cards up there. Wonder will Lohan stay?

Anyway not our problem for the rest of the year.

It's vital we put our best foot forward now for the next 2 games. Need to go as strong as possible for both games and try get into that Munster final as stress free as possible.
Don't subscribe into giving players a rest next week. That's fine during the league or if you are 100% guaranteed our place in the Munster final.

Waterford play Tipp the same day we play Limerick so both teams in the same boat for the following week with regards freshness.

Blah blah blah
For as long as I’m following it and for however long the game of hurling will be played in the future the merit, strengths and weaknesses of All Ireland champions is and will be spoken about

Incidentally, I understand how Clare's exaggerating contact annoys people, but in the second half a Tipp player (think it was Sam O'Farrell) caught Kelly in the head with his upper arm. I think it would have been a harsh red, but it was rash and could have given Owens a decision to make (I think Owens might have missed it). No way were Tipp getting out of there with a result had they gone down to fourteen.
It was a free but as per usual Kelly hammed it up to such a degree that it was ridiculous. He had already got a Tipp player booked for a total dive.
