You cannot compare eras. Different styles different views. Memories blurred. It is also not fair on the current crop of hurlers to assert how much better it was in our day. As if it was somehow tougher. I think the modern player with all the conditioning hits harder than before and the speed of players means a lot also in terms of how tough you have to be to withstand a hit or a belt. I think in fairness any of the 70s players who are involved in coaching would probably back this up . John Gah and Sean Og would be interesting to listen to to compare their era to the recent heartbreak that they were on the sideline for. Was that a classic ?
