The Hunger RTE

He fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Alan: So, how many people were killed in the Irish famine?

Aidan: Erm. Two million, and another two million had to leave the country.

Alan: Right. If it was just the potatoes that were affected, at the end of the day, you will pay the price if you are a fussy eater. If they could afford to emigrate, then they could afford to eat in a modest restaurant.

You are replying to a post based on an Alan Partridge skit.

Might have helped if Alan Partridge was even referenced in the post.

High dudgeon day after day from him almost exclusively about one side who inflicted deaths in The Troubles in which a total of about 3,600 died over 30 years. But for something where over a million Irish people died in just a few years shur let's make Alan Partridge skits. :-(

You would have to watch it for yourself to see that the joke is on Partridge for being so ignorant as to make the comment. It wasn't controversial at the time.
