We all know about the likes of Nolan, Idah and Parrott at this stage. It would be great if some of these lads make it. Who else is out there?

There's another lad at Bayern Munich Ryan Johansen he's half Swedish half Irish, can play for Ireland Luxemburg and Sweden.
Not sure what the story is with him though.

There's another lad at Bayern Munich Ryan Johansen he's half Swedish half Irish, can play for Ireland Luxemburg and Sweden.
Not sure what the story is with him though.

As of Oct 2018 he opted for Luxembourg.

"But his family have since notified the Abbotstown authorities that Johansson intends to play with Luxembourg for now.

That came as a "surprise" to Mohan, although he acknowledged that the quirks of the eligibility rules might be a factor.

Johansson has already played competitive underage football for Luxembourg. Therefore, if he then switched to play competitive underage football for another country, he would be bound to that nation for the rest of his career.

However, he was free to take up the option to play in the friendly matches and has already played non-competitively for Sweden too.

"He's not closing the door with us. It's such a big decision so early, he's keeping his options open and that's it," said Mohan yesterday."

Lads committing to Ireland from Bayern or Inter. That's great news in fairness. I know they're only young, but the reality is, we need our players to playing in the top division of whatever country they play in. England and the English language is the biggest impediment to the development of our players. Yes, they are closer to home, etc., but would you prefer to see a lad at the likes of Ajax and Porto or Swansea and Derby?
