Football going viral on social media regarding the World Cup is not something I expected. Clifford’s penalty miss is up to 16 million views on X.

Unless I’m completely misremembering it Dinny did nothing but give him a bit of chat & Barr got sent off for slamming his forearm into Dinny’s back right in front of the ref

Barr was mouthing off about the “little old man” afterward but ‘Twas Dinny up in Hogan later on that year hoisting the cup

Barr was giving few sneaky belts to young John O' Driscoll before restart and Dinny "sorted" it with a well aimed and disguised jab to the kidneys before walking away from the incident . A furious Barr then followed him and retaliated in full view of ref.

My take is similar to Rebel CNC although AFAIR Dinny hit Barr more than once. John O'Driscoll was getting belted by Barr and Dinny swapped positions with Johno to sort out Barr.

Tough stuff from a 37 year-old and much needed. Just before halftime, the referee called the two team captains -'one being Allen - together and told them to cut out the dirty stuff. At the break, his teammates asked Allen what the referee said. Perhaps remembering the previous year's final replay, Dinny said that the referee told them that it was great fare and to keep it up in the second half.

If sunday last dublin v kerry was an eye opener to showlthe gaa love affair with kerry they have gone and appointed a galway man to referee the final.

What's funny is that we spend half the winter every year being told by GAA journalists how David Clifford would be the best in the world at soccer/rugby/track and field/nfl/darts and then he goes online you've all these people around the world going "wtf is this shit"

Was his routine arms-wide gesturing of his greatness after the penalty that caught the attention?
