Bit of a controversial one but….

Anybody suggested Danno O’Mahoney from Ballydehob who was a professional wrestler in the states in the 1930’s.
He “won” the most senior professional wrestling title in the world at the time , the NWA heavyweight title and was a huge draw with crowds initially.

The Irish Whip himself. He got completely double crossed i believe. Drew crowds of 40 thousand in the 1930’s.

Beyond just statues, obv Ring has the bridge, the stadium and Lynch the tunnel. Lynch also with the bronze bench in Blackpool shopping centre. There were plans to have a statue of Jack Doyle in Cobh but don’t think that ever materialised. One off beat one is the lovely mural to Skibbereen’s 1992 county win ‘33 to 1 they said it couldn’t be done’ with the late great Mick McCarthy featuring prominently in the painting.

My mother was a first cousin of D O Mahony and i new his brother well when i was growing up a giant of a man 6 foot 5"" plus i would say but then again i was under 10 at the time.
