Not sure if anyone else has noticed it but the shortage of referees at underage level is really biting this year.

Look we all have a go at referees, and I do too but without them we’d have no matches. It’s the worst I’ve ever seen it in Cork and you have coaches and fellas not qualified to be referees refereeing matches. It’s not fair on clubs, coaches and especially players.

3 matches in our club in the past week have been called off at underage as no ref could be found. We have two referees in our club and they can't keep up with all the calls they are getting last minute to cover games when they are already assigned elsewhere.

Refs a massive problem since Covid.
The new rules will definitely help on the mouthing from the line and will hopefully help bigtime. Some absolute nut jobs out there and 99% of em are absolutely useless coaches

Mentors becoming a massive problem with the extraordinary commitment required year round.
It’s mostly Dads now just moving up the ages with their own fella, many of whom didn’t play much and have no coaching experience.
The days of a good solid fairly experienced coaching group being in place for 3-5 years at U12- U18s and you’ve a good development pathway is almost gone.

The ref situation seems to be huge problem in the younger age groups, heard a few games that didn't go ahead last week. Adult games are ok but it's the juvenile games are suffering as if there's a clash of fixtures the refs are opting for the adult games firstly or the higher underage grades like u16 and minor.
It seems around u13 there's a big issue
