Is this some kind of three card trick?

"During the discussion on the sole motion brought before convention, which was to amend a transfer byelaw so that a player can only transfer to the ‘first club' of his father if that club operates at a lower grade to the one which he is seeking to leave, Whitechurch delegate Tim Mulcahy said the rule in its current guise had become an “escape route for players who think they might be feeling a bit superior to their classmates and their teammates”.

I do wonder.

What data set would convince you that this is wildly inaccurate when we’ve had 20 years of Cork hurling failures and 25 years of City hurling losing its dominance.

The problem isn’t raw talent or numbers.

4 of the last 10 county finals have been won by the traditional city clubs, add in Sars who are now a city club abd you are left with 1 senior county won by an east corn club

They probably charge the County teams rent to train down there as well.

Or put another way Imokilly have 15 of the last 20 counties and the Barrs have the same as Newtownshandrum?

this stinks like the minor motion of a few years ago

all clubs are equal but some are more equal than others it seems

In this day and age that rule shouldn't exist full stop.
In certain cases I'm not even sure you could definitely prove where a lads father's first club was. If he only went down training for a few weeks and packed it in, would there even be a record of him in a particular club.
Also why father's first club, what about the mother? I'm no expert on the law but If that rule was challenged legally I'd assume it would be torn apart
