Maybe it's only all talk, who knows. But I'm still glad the possibility of a Centre of Excellence is being at least mentioned as it's badly needed in a county the size of Cork.

The size of Cork is a key thing, where would you build it.
Perhaps two smaller ones, one east of the city for hurling and one west for football.

2 would be brilliant but I think we'll do well to get one.
Somewhere around Mallow I think would be the best option? But is that unfair on West Cork based players then.
Availability and cost of land an obvious factor. Other counties were lucky to get land donated to them.

This often the case if you come up with 20 % funding sports capital might fund the rest . Like any other grant

Sports capital isnt allowed to be used for the purchase of land

2 Centres of Excellence. Madness and utter delusion. With opposing Counties announcing New COE , Mayo, Tipp etc. The CCC has reacted and thrown the plebs a fews titbits about a fantasy package and current Funding. Complete and total Pie in the Sky nonsense. There will be no COE for a longtime.

Blarney or that new town outside Blarney (Monard?) would prob be the best spot. Easy enough reach from everywhere, especially if this new North Ring bypass thing gets built.... whenever that'll be

No big enough. Tivoli would be ideal once the port of Cork is moved but that seems on the never/never now

The ideal site was where the Cork Summer show is now held in Curraheen. That land came up for sale about 10 years ago. Easy access off the Ballincollig Bypass, near enough the centre of the county and good flat land, easy to develop pitches.

Wherever it is built it will be wrong for some areas of the county, the county is just too big and the population too uneven with the road network absolutely chronic in the city and and county plus the added hardship of having a very real divide between hurling and football areas in the county.

Mallow makes sense as its roughly the center of the county but again roads are brutal in and out of Mallow.
I'd love to see it in Ballinora where the Cork summer show gets held as its close enough to the main population center with decent roads but then that's hardly fair on the clubs in the North of the county like Charleville, Newtown etc. It's going to be a tough decision ..........if it ever actually does happen.
