Debt stands at 31 million, only reduced by 141k in 2024
The report makes for harrowing reading.
An awful legacy for decades to come. It’s also a horrible empty soulless mass concrete structure straight out of IFA farm buildings manual. Hard to believe the thing was designed and built in modern times.

I hope the Midleton/Finbarrs motion for convention falls flat on its arse. They're looking at players who've made one substitute appearance at one grade will still be eligible to play at a lower grade.
Wouldn't be in favour of this motion. Think it's highly unfair on smaller clubs.

I understand its terrible on a player getting 4 or 5 minutes as a sub and then that's his year done. But really that's an issue for the player himself and his club. Every club is guaranteed 3 championship games now. If a club can't or won't use their bench correctly then that's an internal issue.

I don't like the idea of a stacked 2cd team taking down a smaller clubs 1st team. Would Lisgoold have won the intermediate county this year if say Mossie Carroll or Eoghan Murphy had been allowed play for Erins Own? Probably not.
I want the best teams playing in the correct grades, a rule like this would be detrimental to the higher up championships. For example Blackrock 2cd team made it to the PIHC a few years back, every team in the grade wanted to draw them in championship and everybody knew they'd be relegated immediately. & that's precisely what happened.

I'm not in favour of the rule prohibiting U18s playing senior or intermediate either.

I guess it reflects the budget they had. Barring the South Stand it’s essentially the same stadium as before with better facilities. To build it to Croke Park or Premier League standard would a 40k capacity would have cost multiples of what it eventually did cost.

The financials don't read well at all.
Part of the thinking appears to be "if our marquee teams are going well, money will follow" but when we spend any extra money garnered on preparing those teams, it becomes a vicious cycle.

Large counties like Cork, Galway, Dublin etc are essentially businesses and having volunteers/boards elected/Good GAA people running them is not going to cut it anymore. The money is too much and unproven business people making decisions is not ideal practice.
Like the government having someone with a teaching background becoming minister for finance.

I can't see the €31m figure coming down in the next few years

I’d agree with most of that Vlad but it’s comical you have an issue with a “stacked 2nd team” taking down a smaller club yet you have no issue with Imokilly and their 500+ pick taking down clubs with a pick of 75+ players 😀

Would moneys from kilbarry land make a difference ?
Definitely should, huge difference. People in the know seem confident things are good with decent long term plan in place and that this year was about getting those structures in place rather than actually seeing any drop in amount owed. Plus there's income not included in final accounts due to year end date like seat sales which have brought in a substantial amount of cash
