The characters of Cork

I don’t know are mental health issues more prevalent these days but seeing a lot more of it with folk when im walking on the streets of Cork…
They are and all stemming from alcohol and drug abuse
Not condescending but bring blunt n honest
Personal experience as one of my brothers was on the streets and died of a H overdose
But alcohol played its part aswell

Mentally stemming from his adoption started it I think
We’d 2 adoptive brothers
One didn’t give a fuck
Now a Buddhist
Teaching in Thailand for years
Other boy gone

At 11 mass in st Mary’s popes quay this cold morning, Saw a genuine clean looking Irish man about 25/30 Sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground Hard to imagine what we’ve become, Almost immune to this common sight, Never saw a homeless person in Cork city in my youth! Our government policy on homing outsiders before our own has to be stopped
