The Action Plan for Housing.

sarah mc asked O broin on drivetime on a few occasions what would Sf do to keep small landlords in the market, would they offer tax incentives, He eventually answered and said no, He said no landlords are leaving over tax,
He said the tenant in situ scheme is a waste of time, A few mins later he said Sf have been calling for a tenant in situ scheme for a few years,

Fatty O Brien said, just last December, the housing issue wasn't an emergency/crisis. 2 months later Leo said we've a deficit of 250,000 houses.🤦‍♂️

Very few people will claim that the Government has managed the housing crisis well but I think a majority of the population will also understand that the opposition parties have no viable plans to tackle the problems. Labour's recent pathetic attempt at populist politics (1M houses) merely illustrates, once again, the inane policies of the looney left.

Darragh O Brian is a former pensions advisor, living in a duplex in Malahide with his wife and child. He hasn't a clue about the idiotic government planning policy requiring high rise apartments in suburban/edge areas of large and metropolitan towns.

The government has just published a draft of its new planning policy - it's finally accepted that high rise apartments don't work in these areas but is now proposing the same level of density using own door units instead of high rise. Many home buyers will simply trade time for space and buy in outlying low density areas thus creating the direct opposite to the intended result.

It'll take another few years before the ideas of the Dublin based policy advisors are exposed again as completely unworkable.

Verona Murphy, the Wexford Ind TD is the only person in the Oireachtas that is addressing the crux of the issues in the rental and housing crises - Viability. Until the government understands that market forces demand viability - we won't get workable solutions.

The looney left can continue to organise marches, present inane populist 'solutions' and have clowns like Sally Rooney offer fiction gibberish articles in the IT but that only serves to add to the mess - we need viable plans that take market reality into account.

O Brien has been housing minister 2 years. Coveney and Murphy before him were equally clueless. Or do they also live in duplexes? (as bizarre an argument as I've ever heard).

It's not my fault I can't do my job. Interesting defence.
