The Action Plan for Housing.

Baciks pledge of one million houses in ten tears was embarrasing and insulting to the electorate,
How this will ever be fixed is beyond me, population growing by the day, No light at the end of the tunnel on housing,

Yup.
That was absolutely ridiculous.
The fact nobody applauded it-at a sparsely populated Labour Conference anyway-said it all.
FF/FG have set us back decades.
Even 1 million houses by 2033, which is completely impossible to achieve, wouldn’t fix it. It's a disaster in every sense. The last 3 housing ministers should all be jailed.

At the peak of the Celtic Tiger Ireland built 78,000 homes in 1 year.

This is 1.25 times Celtic Tiger production.

Politicians just love soundbites and big rounded off numbers.

PPB should just come out and promise to build 2 million homes in 10 years.

Sure why not?

Politician's just do not have a single clue when it comes to housing.

Agreed.

The density issue wrt apartment complexes in rural developments was a glaring example.

The senior civil servants decided that this was the way forward in spite of industry telling them explicitly that it couldn't be done at a profit.

Two successive ministers were led by the nose and eventually the message seems to have gotten through with the upshot being somewhere in the region of 70k worth of planning applications need to be resubmitted.

The 'reform' of the planning board looks to have ammounted to a rebranding and a couple of board members departing.

Tbh they need to finalise the details of the planning reform bill and include a clause that prevents politicians jamming up the system with objections and appeals.

Bang on, and it was a lot easier to get labour then, both native and Eastern European. Both parties have since discovered that it is a lot handier to get €40K+ starting PA for pressing buttons in a multi-national production facility. Bacik wouldnt know this, it is not the kind of world you are exposed to hanging around Trinner's for 20 years!

Bacik was pressed yesterday on her one million homes in ten years she had no answers, No breakdown on social ,affordable, etc, no idea of how many construction workers will be needed,
pitiful.
